Introduction
This page simply lists academic papers that are available online free of charge. This may be a resource that is of some use for those who are researching without access to an academic library.
These URLs do change from time to time and can be a pain to keep up with, so if you find a broken link please let me know and I will try and find where the paper is now located. If you think that a particular paper will be of real value to you I recommend that you print it off - I have some papers in my files which were once available online free of charge, but are now only available to purchase (and some of them are quite expensive), or are simply no longer available on the Web.
Currently these are nearly all Predynastic I’m afraid, with one or two exceptions - mainly because this is my principal area of interest.
If you know of others that aren’t listed here, including anything more recent than the Predynastic :-) I will be very grateful if you could email me the links so that I can include them: a.byrnes@ucl.ac.uk or andie@easynet.co.uk)
Online Journals
PalArch Scientific Journal - Archaeology of Egypt/Egyptology http://www.palarch.nl/Archaeology/archaeology.htm “This journal is a new, webbased but peer reviewed journal and publishes on all topics on archaeology of Egypt/Egyptology in its widest sense up to the Arab conquest. The papers are free to download for everybody for 3 months (thus you don't need subscription) after which it is stored in the archive, obtainable by order only from than onwards. It would really be worthwile to have a look at the information page on what publishing here entails as it differs from the standard mainstream journals (for example, there is no limit to length, number of illustrations, data and papers need to sumbitted 3 months prior to its publication, thus a very short publication timescale).
